As many users can relate, being a senior manager at a small but growing company poses many challenges. Part of the challenge we face is the wearing of many "hats" during the course of the day. And often times, forgetting to switch hats allows things to slip between the cracks, like monitoring the activities of our small, spread out fleet of vehicles.
Our six-van fleet is spread out in four states, from Georgia to California. Just talking to our people is a hassle, let alone tracking their activities. Before installing a tracking system, we were constantly on the phone trying to verify activity and daily productivity, which is mainly visiting accounts to make our presence felt and improve customer satisfaction.
We had tried other real-time GPS fleet tracking systems, but their initial AND continuing costs were high, and the reliability and customer service had a lot to be desired; it was even a big hassle to cancel the service! The Vehiclepath system, by comparison, is relatively painless, is extremely affordable, and works quite well.
We have been able to efficiently track our people's productivity, keep track of mileage for maintenance purposes, watch for unauthorized use, and even monitor for excessive speed...plus the awareness of the theft recovery capability provides peace of mind. While we have no definitive way to quantify our savings using the Vehiclepath system, we know it has helped to improve productivity of our field staff with a resultant increase in sales and customer satisfaction: just the fact that a supervisor is able to see where you have been and where you are right now is good incentive to stay focused on the job at hand. We have also used the system to locate a vehicle when it was involved in a minor accident and to send assistance.
As we continue to grow and add more vehicles to our fleet, we will expand the use of the Vehiclepath system.
